This section
provide more information about IPOs company with also sponsors
comparison.
Major information about newly listed stocks and warrants are
summarized here. You can search general information like
expected listing timetable and price performance since listings,
but also obtain some price-sensitive information like IPO
lock-up period.
Generally, selling force after the IPO lock-up period will be
greater as the supply of tradable number of shares in the market
will increase. Investors should pay particular attention to some
overvalued stocks which have thin liquidity and relatively small
market capitalization. The prices of such stocks will usually
have greater volatility and may have greater downward price
impact when the substantial shareholders are liquidating their
shares on hand. |

Global Financial Market
Market Calendar helps you to easily access comprehensive
information covering both macro market overview and individual
local stocks under different time horizons. Data from specific
time horizon (i.e. Today Focus, Daily, Weekly and Monthly) can
be generated by simply clicking the user-friendly Calendar
Frame. Investors can have better insight and market timing
ability in the stock market by studying data under various
pre-defined reports such as:
|
|
| • |
Global Financial Market & World Stock
Market (Provides you an global overview with different price
trends about major world stock indexes), |
|
| • |
Forex markets, |
|
| • |
US bond market (i.e. 5-yr & 10-yr Bond
Yield), |
|
| • |
And various commodities markets such as
IPE Brent Crude Oil, NY Crude Oil, NY aluminum, NY copper, NY
gold, NY silver, NY platinum and NY Cotton#2. |
|
Investors can look into the prices of the commodities to
help in judging the reasonable value and price movements of
related stocks. Historically, commodities generally rise in a
faster pace than the stock market when the economy is having a
positive turnaround in the initial recovery period. Moreover,
commodity market has a very low correlation with the stock
market, and thus, commodities can serve as good diversification
tools in an investment portfolio.

Market Snapshot
Sometimes, a clearer picture about the trend of the stock
market can be observed through various data in the derivative
market (e.g. options, futures, warrants, etc.) and the cash
market. Trading summaries of stocks and warrants shown in the
"Constituents Performance", "Top 30 Stocks" and "Top 30
Warrants" could give you further understanding of the price
performances in different indexes and information about some hot
stocks in the market. In addition, reminders about the release
date for HK/US economic data also alert you about the upcoming
variables in the market.
More importantly, the analytical data contained in the
"Turnover Analysis" and "Derivatives Summary" provides you rich
information about the overall stock market. Market turnaround
can be more easily observed from the overall picture of these
data, together with other technical and fundamental figures.
Now, Put/Call Ratio analysis is shown within the "Turnover
Analysis". It is used to measure market sentiment. When the
ratio is too low, it indicates that the market may be overly
bullish, and vice versa.
This phenomenon can sometimes be observed from the
options market in Hong Kong and related information can be found
in "Options Market" under "Turnover Analysis". The Put/Call
Ratio here is calculated by a dollar-weighted method. It is
constructed by using not only the volume of the various options,
instead, it is computed by multiplying the volume and price. The
Put/Call Ratio is derived from this formula: P/C Ratio = (The
total of the product for all put options / The total of the
product for all call options). The main difference between the
"normal" and weighted ratios is that the weighted put-call ratio
generates more extreme figures, especially at major turning
points.
Apart from the options market, data about warrant
issuers" trading records in the warrant market can also be found
in the "Derivatives Market" under "Turnover Analysis". Sometimes
the warrant issuers might have an advantage in market
information and expertise; it was found that the Put/Call Ratio
may be applied in opposite way as the contrarian. In other
words, when the trading turnover in put is higher than in call
warrants, the specific stocks or index tend to perform with
bearish (or bullish) trend, and vice versa.

Insider Trading
Data from securities buyback, short selling and
substantial transactions helps you to assess the intrinsic value
of a stock through some large numbers share transactions which
are usually conducted by someone who have more complete
information about a company.
Securities Buyback are
transactions made by the listed companies themselves through
buying back their own shares from the stock market, and
afterwards, those repurchased shares will be cancelled on the
book of the companies" account. Companies tend to repurchase
their shares when they have excess funds on hand that has no
other alternative use (e.g. attractive investment projects
ahead) or just for some strategic purposes. Moreover, the
management of listed companies usually take this action when
they think that the market price of their shares are undervalued
in the market or trading at lower price than its book value.
Consequently, securities buyback can usually serve to
increase the net asset book value per share.
Short Selling activity
is limited to certain authorized entities in Hong Kong.
Furthermore, not all of the listed securities can have
short-sell positions in the market. Instead, only a portion of
designated securities in Hong Kong can have short-sell
positions.
Markets or stocks that have no short-selling mechanism
will more easily lead to upward bias. In general, short-selling
activities serve to drive overvalued stock market prices back to
a reasonable price. Short-selling activities do not necessarily
mean a negative signal to a stock because it may be only due to
some portfolio adjustment or arbitrage opportunities. However,
some negative signal about a stock"s price may appear when the
amount of short-selling shared a exceptionally high percentage
of its total trading turnover or it shared an increasing and
significant percentage from time to time.
The validity of such kind of signals can be further
confirmed by other technical and fundamental indicators. Of
course, from the contrarian"s point of view, huge accumulated
stock short positions can be a buy signal if the prices of
stocks have already corrected to an attractive level, especially
when the market sentiment has improved and previous
short-sellers need to settle the short positions with long
positions afterwards.
Substantial Transactions
can show some exceptionally large amount of transactions as
released from The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Currently, any
volume per transaction (in shares) that exceeds the maximum
board lot per transaction of any particular security will be
provided with its related price and volume here. Thus, investors
can detect and judge whether there are some trading anomalies
that may imply some buy or sell signals.
Disclosure of interests.
For shareholders who hold more than 5% of a listed company, the
increase and decrease of his/her shareholding would be revealed
in this section, whose action may tell stories of the listed
companies. The section shows a summary of weekly, monthly
changes in shareholdings from significant stakeholders.
Using the sorting function, you could collect particular
players or stocks shareholding activities in the market.

Company Memorandum

results announcements, stock entitlements, capital raised, and
net asset value for listed investment companies can be easily
located here. Interactive reports are also available for
searching companies with profit turnaround, loss narrowing,

Investors can search for some undervalued listed
companies that have announced promising results but the market
has not yet responded to such strong fundamentals. On the other
hand, investors can also look for some undervalued companies
that are estimated to have promising results and fundamentals
that have not yet reflected in their market price.

Corporate Actions
Reminders regarding notice of meetings and changes in
directorships, auditors, company names, company secretaries,
